Freedom comes at the cost of many lives and Memorial Day is a remembrance of all those men and women that lost their life while serving in the armed forces. This honorary day is celebrated across the United States of America on the last Monday in May.
The first official observance of Memorial Day was May 28, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. After World War I, the holiday was extended to all soldiers who had fallen in all American wars.
The U.S. flag is raised to the top of the staff and then lowered to half-staff, where it stays until noon. After that it is raised to full-staff for the rest of the day, which is symbolic as the flag rises and so is their memory by the living who promise to not let their sacrifice be in vain and continue to fight for liberty and justice for all.
On behalf of all of us at Intecore Physical Therapy, thank you to all those men and women!
